Styled by - Erik Josefsson

We have invited interior designer Erik Josefsson to be a part of our latest styled by magazine. With his exceptional taste for mixing color and pattern he has put his own touch to some of our wall murals. Combining some key designs from our Asian Deco collection together with a more neutral and sophisticated look. Eriks home is filled with furniture from different time periods, mixing timeless vintage and bolder statement pieces into the perfect mix.

Tell us about yourself (who you are, what you do, etc.)

My name is Erik Josefsson, I am 31 years old and live in Bagaregården in Gothenburg with my partner André. I work full time as an interior designer for my own company JosefssonLjung Interiör, which I started with my friend Karin Ljung. Alongside that, I also run my instagram @erinterior where I hope to inspire people to create a personal and lovely home!

In my spare time, I like to hang out with my friends, eat good food, exercise, play board games or just sit on the couch and watch too many TV-shows. Very entertaining!

How would you describe your interior design style?

It is hard to describe my interior design in one word or specific style. I surround myself with things I like. I am not afraid to mix different styles and things but I still want to keep a personal and vibrant home! I want a home that both I and those who visit us can enjoy!

What is the best thing about your job as an interior designer?

The best thing is definitely meeting new people all the time and being able to step into people's homes. It's so  much fun to step in and not know what you will be greeted by! It is also a privilege to be able to work full time with my greatest interest, which is interior design. I love being able to be creative while running my own business.

What is your favorite wallpaper from belarte?

It is hard to choose just one, there are so many nice designs and it all depends on where and in what context the wallpaper is found. But if I were to choose one design from Belarte, it would probably be Scenic Landscape.

6 wallpapers I would like to decorate with:

Scenic Landscape - this design in the light green and dark red color combinations are two huge favorites. I can imagine how nicely they would fit in a lovely turn-of-the-century apartment with stucco and large ceilings.

On the beach - imagine this colorful and unique wallpaper in a restaurant or another cool venue, amazing!

Geometric Shades - in light blue and burgundy. These are two favorite colors right now that are working beautifully together. I can imagine installing this wallpaper in the ceiling to decorate and tie together a really lovely room.

Abstract sketch - in light blue which is a little more soft in its expression, just imagine how nice it would look in a bedroom!

Wild Forest - in ivy green, it would be like stepping into a big forest. I think it is wonderful to install this in a bedroom or maybe even to create a cozy feeling in a large living room.

Ocean Creatures - such a cozy wallpaper for a children's room.

What would be your dream project to work on?

I'm not really a dreamer in a sense where I think a lot about goals and visions of the future, I’m just not that good at thinking in those terms. I am very happy at the moment and love the projects I have going on right now. If I were to come up with something, maybe it would be to decorate more hospitality environments such as hotels or restaurants. However, I am not so fond of the commercial style and would probably like to decorate these spaces with a more personal feeling and in similar style as personal homes.

Do you have a favorite detail in your home? Why?

Our dining room table, a folding table that I inherited from my father's family. Nothing can add character and feeling like an older item, and even better with a personal connection and history. My grandmother has told me how she remembers setting the table many times and is now happy that we also use it and create fun memories around it!

Where can we find you?

You can find more about me and my work on my instagram @erinterior or my company’s instagram @josefssonljung.
