Tell us about yourself. What do you do?

I’m an interior designer and CGI artist based in Kyiv. My work is a mix of creativity and precision—I love designing spaces that are not just beautiful but also tell a story and evoke emotions. Each project for me is like creating a movie scene, where every detail plays a role in setting the mood and shaping the experience.

Where do you find inspiration?

A lot of my inspiration comes from cinema. I’m especially drawn to the work of Ingmar Bergman—his films feel like every frame is a standalone piece of art. His use of composition, light, and storytelling has influenced the way I think about interiors. I also admire Wes Anderson for his mastery of color, symmetry, and details. His ability to create immersive, atmospheric worlds is something I strive for in my own work—where every material, shade, and object is carefully chosen to contribute to the overall feeling of a space. Apart from films, I find inspiration in everyday textures, art, nature, and even the way light moves through a space at different times of the day.

Do you have a specific interior style?

I think I do, but it’s not easy to put into a single definition. My style is eclectic—I love playing with contrasts. I often combine minimalist, clean forms with sculptural, heavily textured elements. I enjoy mixing cool, sleek materials with warm, ornate, or tactile surfaces. For me, a good interior is not just about being aesthetically pleasing; it’s about balance and emotion. I want my spaces to feel alive, to leave room for imagination, and to tell a story that resonates with those who inhabit them.

Describe your process. How do you come up with all the stylings?

My process always starts with a story. Before selecting materials or furniture, I try to imagine the narrative behind the space. How should it feel? What emotions should it evoke? How will someone interact with it? Once I have a clear idea, I put myself inside the space—mentally walking through it and imagining different perspectives. I think about the textures, light, and details that will bring it to life. This way, every design decision feels intentional and connected to the overall vision.

Do you have any tips and tricks on how to add character and emotion to an interior?

Yes! One of the most important things is to avoid filling a space with meaningless objects. Instead, choose elements that truly resonate with you—whether it’s a specific texture, a bold color, an unexpected shape, or a personal item that carries memories. You don’t need a lot of things, but each piece should have a purpose and add something special to the atmosphere. Play with contrasts—smooth and rough surfaces, warm and cool tones, structured and organic forms. These small choices make a space feel more dynamic and full of character.

What are your thoughts about wall murals and wallpapering the ceiling?

I love the idea! Who says wallpaper is only for walls? Using it on the ceiling adds an unexpected element to the design and makes a space feel more immersive. It’s a great way to break the usual design rules and create something unique. A little experimentation never hurts!

What are some of the most important things you need to think about when being a CGI artist?

For me, the most important thing is to remember that CGI is not just about technical skills—it’s a creative process. The way you build an atmosphere in a visualization directly affects how the interior will be perceived. It’s not just about making things look realistic, but about capturing the mood and emotions of a space. CGI is a powerful tool that helps bring ideas to life before they are even built. It allows me to experiment, refine details, and push creative boundaries. But at its core, it’s still about storytelling—just like interior design itself.
